I have a VERY hungry 14 week old DD whos formula fed. She's been a little piggy since birth, never going anymore then 2 hours between a feed. It's been alright up until about 10 weeks when it started getting crazy! She was having 180mls every two hours but started screaming for more after an hour. I thought it could have been a growth spurt & carried on because if she was given non stop attention I could carry her over to two hours (if she went less then two hours between feeds she ended up with a horrible tummy ache) however this "growth spurt" is still going! Lol. For the past 3 weeks she has been STARVING. I put her up to 240mls & that keeps her happy for an hour and a half & she wants another one. So for a week & a half I couldnt handle that sad little face & the screaming any more & gave in & started feeding her every hour & a half but she was in such agony because its just too much for her little tummy. We even ended up at AnE one night because she was in such a distressed state I thought something serious was going on. Shes been having infacol with each bottle which helps wth the wind she gets from glugging down so much formula but she still ends up in a state most days. She's on s26-gold which shes had from birth & it works really well with her, no constipation or anything. We tried the karicare for hungry babys one but it made her horribly constipated so went back to s-26. I took her to the GP (plunkets useless I havent seen them since she was 6 weeks gerrr) & he told me to start solids. I was quite shocked. I am defnitely in full agreeance that solids probably would help with the hunger but I was quite unsure cause surely thats too young. But I gave it a go on Saturday, just a tiny bit of farex baby rice after her bottle & she hated it. She didnt know what to do with the spoon & when we did get the farex in her mouth she just kept it in there & screamed & screamed & eventually spat it out. I rung the GP back & he said its all normal & to keep trying. So I tried again on Sunday & this morning, same thing. Is this a normal reaction to starting solids & she just needs to "learn" to have them like the GP says or is my gut instinct right & shes just not ready for them yet. I upped her bottles to 280mls & with constant cuddles & attention I can get her to two hours apart & at that length of time between feeds she doesnt suffer too bad with any tummyaches, just a bit of wind which we can manage, but the GP says 280mls is just too much for a 14week old. I'm not too sure what to do, I'm not getting anything done at all around the house so that I can get her to 2 hours between feeds but I'd rather have a messy house & wait till shes ready for solids then ram them down her throat when shes not ready you know?
